I then continued my studies of Chinese Herbal Medicine in the U.S.A. and qualified with a Masters degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at the American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicinevisit ACAOM(ACAOM), in Houston, U.S.A. There I became a diplomate in Oriental Medicine, (visitNCCAOM)(National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine),(U.S.A.).
I have undertaken further training in China and had great benefit from participating in the Clinical Internship Programme in the Hangzhou Hospital of TCM, affiliated to Zhejiang University of TCM.
In continuing to develop my understanding of Chinese Medicine, I have attended many advanced seminars on a variety of subjects. I have special interests in treating gynaecological conditions, fertility and pregnancy (I am a member of the Acupuncture Fertility Network.). I have undertaken extensive post graduate studies with leading figures in these specialist area such as Prof. Wu Yuning, Jane Lyttleton, Zita West, Debra Betts, Jill Glover, Andrew Flower, Shulan Tang, Kiiko Matsumoto and Trevor Wing. Some of other seminars I have attended are: Mazin Al-Khafaji's seminar on allergic & autoimmune disease and Dermatology in Chinese Medicine, Kiiko Matsumoto's seminar on treatment for the Head and Neck, Whitfield Reaves' seminar on Acupuncture treatment of Sports Injuries and Pain, Ken Lloyd's seminar on Dermatology and Professor Shen Pi'an's seminar for Managing rheumatoid arthritis with Chinese medicine. I hold a post graduate diploma (Chinese Herbal Medicine) in TCM Clinical Gynaecology and Obstetrics and am an associate practitioner of The Women's Natural Health Practice. Chinese Herbal Medicine treatment tailored to the specific traditional diagnosis of what is wrong with each individual's reproductive health is a important key factor of successful treatment (please visit the fertility page).
My treatments include Chinese Herbal Medicine (individually prescribed herbal powder or capsules), Electro Acupuncture, ear acupuncture, TDP heat lamp therapy and Shiatsu massage(including deep abdominal massage), which I completed 3-year practitioner training programme in 1997. They are used in conjunction with Acupuncture when I feel appropriate for the patient/condition.
I enjoy practising yoga, walking and slow jogging and offer my patients practical help with breathing, diet advice and some exercises when appropriate.
